The V-Link connects to a USB port on a Windows PC or Mac and converts the audio to Coaxial and Optical digital outputs that are compatible with any receiver or DAC with optical or coaxial digital inputs. The asynchronous aspect of the V-Link has to do with its internal software and hardware that re-clocks and stabilizes the digital audio signal to eliminate timing variation or jitter that Windows and IOS inherently introduce into their USB outputs. Musical Fidelity is a highly-regarded manufacturer of audiophile equipment, and the V-Link was favorably reviewed by Stereophile magazine in 2011 (https://www.stereophile.com/content/musical-fidelity-v-link-usb-spdif-converter-0).
