The speakers are in excellent and original condition in every respect. No repairs or upgrades of any kind: they are in the same condition as when they were produced. Cabinets are well preserved and apart from a few small marks they are in excellent condition with no damage or dents. The drivers are the legendary Tannoy Monitor Gold Type LSU/HF/15/8 - fully functional. This is an original factory matched pair. The serial numbers on the paper labels match the serial numbers on the drivers - and on the backs of the cabinets. Still original crossovers. The canvases are intact apart from a few small marks on a speaker(see photo 12), but completely negligible. Logos present. Rare Tannoy LSU/HF/3LZG/8 Vintage Audiophile Speakers ? LZ Monitor Gold A stunning pair of these vintage gems. They are in full working order and sound beautiful. I would be keeping them but for the fact I need more space and less equipment! They were rescued from a house clearance (before it began, thankfully) at a prestigious property in Knightsbridge, and belonged to a true audiophile who kept an immaculate record collection. Fully tested using a Naim Amp and Linn LP12. They work perfectly, but the switches at the back would ultimately benefit from a clean. It isnt necessary now, as it doesnt affect performance once the position has been fully selected, but when actually moving the selector switches there can be some crackles. Condition: These look near-perfect and are the best Ive seen. Excellent, near-immaculate condition for their age. Original unmolested speakers, crossovers and cabinets. Some very small age-related marks, and a few tiny flecks of paint (on the bottom of one cabinet of one speaker - only noticeable on close inspection) that could be easily removed. However I have decided not to in case the new owner prefers to address that, or even deems it necessary. I have given the speakers a very light clean to remove dust, but they will look even better with a more detailed spruce up. Please note the little white lines on the gold part of the drivers is just dust, not scratches. Pair of 15 Inch Tannoy Lancasters Boxed and Beautiful Containing classic Monitor Gold (LSU/HF/15/8) dual concentric drivers, it’s unlikely you’ll ever see another pair of these wonderful loudspeakers in this beautiful condition AND in their original Tannoy shipping cartons. Physical condition is as good as any we’ve seen (see close-up pictures). One very feint watermark on the top of each enclosure. The grille cloths are perfect, with no sagging, snags or splits, the woodwork is excellent, as are the Tannoy lightning badges. The rear panels were removed today for the first time since the day they were born. You can see that the serial numbers on each driver match the serial numbers stamped into the rear of the cabinets and written on the paper labels. It goes without saying that we have tested these and they sound exactly as they should - absolutely stunning with all types of music. They are original and sold as seen. The cones and dust caps are intact, surrounds are in good condition. Cone excursion is fine and the spiders are in good condition. The frames are in good condition with a few signs of black paint (from enclosure baffle painting!). One crossover lead has a repair to the cable, other is OK. Overall, the condition is as expected for the age. All Pictures are of actual speakers. History: These speakers were bought new between 1969 -1970 andhave been stored unused for approximately the last 10 years. To my knowledgethey have only ever been driven by low power valve amps (Quad 11s). They will be packed in double skinned boxes.
