This is my personal phono preamplifier and was an important part of my listening room system, performing along with a KRC-HR preamplifier which will be listed separately, and a KSA-100S which Im keeping for now in another system. These were my holy grail components which took a long time and lots of experimenting to finally decide upon and much more to find and purchase. But life took a turn and Ive had to dismantle my listening room to make a bedroom for family and have some medical issues to deal with which require that I liquidate my most valuable electronics. This was Krells very best phono preamplifier from their golden age. These rarely appear on the market, and when they do, they seldom have their dedicated power supply. This one is in exceptionally good cosmetic condition and there are no signs of prior service or modifications (a good thing). It works perfectly and sounds wonderful. It operates in Class-A throughout and runs hot. It needs several inches space above for ventilation. It has inputs for two turntables and front-panel controls for cartridge loading and gain. However, it does not memorize settings so if youre using two different types of cartridges, you manually set the controls while the input knob is in the mute position. It has bass and treble RIAA equalization trim controls, which is quite unusual. In my system and to my ears, the changes were pretty subtle, and I mostly kept them centered. It would be good to look up an instruction manual and read about this component. Krell chose to make it possible to upgrade it by simply buying a second one, in order to gain full dual mono power supplies and circuits, plus fully balanced circuits with XLR outputs. It actually weighs more than my KRC-HR. It will be very safely packaged in a strong non-original box. Shipping is by UPS.
