Well this is probably the worlds best for sale and its well beyond what it originally was! The reason for the shape is because it acts as a platform for your CD player to sit on top and absorb the vibrations. Needless to say most of the work was done in the Power supply. As with ANY piece of HIFI gear its all in the power supply. Now you know if you didnt and dont let some Expert tell you any different! The PSU consists of a very nice chassis, very nice mains filter, massive toroidal transformer and a Zone Ultra Low noise power supply board. The board consists of Ultra fast MUR diodes, Nichicon Muse and Gold Tune caps. Its an exceptional board and I have never heard or seen anyone use such a high end board for the Isomagic before! I also added a ferrite core to the mains transformer secondary windings. The power supply alone is worth a pretty penny! The DAC itself has the main smoothing caps replaced with Nichicon KA, all smaller power caps with Panasonic FM/FC and around the opamp also with Nichicon KA. The output opamps I changed to the best OPA627! These are not the usual fakes you buy and they are not cheap! Literally the best opamp in the world! See last pic. I also replaced the main clock oscillator itself to a Ultra low noise 0.1ppm Gold oscillator. This adds a more analogue sound. Just google clock and CD players and you will hit hundreds of forums praising the high end clock. What I have done here is very similar! I also added a ferrite core to the power cables.
