This is a Celestion 10 driver that came from a radiogramme and the design of which appears in late 1950s Celestion brochures, however the code stamps on the chassis do not directly identify the model. Looking at the chassis design and brochures of the time suggest it might be a low flux model 75 or high flux model 111, but the chassis markings appear to say Model Z1 OL2 while what may be a date code of 06GH suggesting 6th July 1951 production. The early motto on the sticker of The very soul of music supports this late 40s-early 50s dating. It is in very good vintage condition-the driver works with a signal direct to the voice coil, bypassing the output transformer. The cone and surround is intact with no tears or damage. A 2.6 ohm reading on the voice coil suggests a nominal impedance of 3 ohms which is in line with expected specification. I also have a British Rola field coil speaker that I will be listing soon.
