You are looking at a genuine Dual CS505-3 Audiophile Concept turntable. This is an unfinished project, ideal for someone to pick up and finish. As someone who deals in used hifi, I have 1 too many projects on the go as we head into winter, so this one sadly needs to go to someone else to complete. Where it is at so far: - 1. Main platter belt replaced 2. Pitch belt replaced for the twin belts 3. Plugged in, spins up, pitch adjusts Good bits: - 1. Dust cover is in tact, no cracks, hinges complete and function 2. All leads are undamaged 3. Arm, head, lifter etc all in nice condition 4. Mat is undamaged, no disintegrating etc Bad bits: - 1. No cartridge so I havent tested output 2. The speed control needs some attention - sometimes it changes, sometimes it doesnt. Switching mechanics need some adjustment or greasing. 3. Some baked on residue of previous sticky stuff on the back of the unit and on edges of the lid. Some isopropyl soaking should remove. 4. Some minor separation at the wood casing joints, see photos. Overall a nice turntable that needs some love and time to tinker and finish. Replace the cartridge, fix the speed mech and give it a good clean. AUDIO INNOVATIONS TRANSFORMER STEP UP?I cannot confirm information provided is correct, I cannot find any direct reference to this item. This may be a prototype or one off passive device of some sort. I have limited knowledge of electronics, and only a basic multimeter, so here is what I have been able to find out. What we have here is an Audio Innovations Series 1000 passive control unit case. No cover.2 inputs and outputs marked A and B. There are 4 impedance positions.There appears to be 4 transformers in the box, which seems unusual - two more than expected for an SUT. Impedance switch positions 1 & 2 measure ~28ohms input and~1k5 ohms at output. X50gain?Impedance switch positions 3 & 4 measure ~300ohms input and~1k0 ohms at output. X3.33 gain? A brief test in my system shows one channel to work, though the gain seems quite low for the measurements above. There is intermittent hum. A good clean, contacts check, reflowing solder would certainly help. So, this may be of interest to someone with the knowledge to work out what it does, reconfigure the transformers or whatever. I do not have the knowledge or time. I have no idea of its worth, so lets have the fun of an auction. No return, you are buying a project or for parts. Its quite heavy at 1.25kg.
