Yamaha MX-2000 Power Amplifier 150 Watts per Channel Class A (See Below) Yamaha MX-2000- Another Ebay purchase. It is in very good shape. I would rate it a 7 out of 10. The item arrived with a channel out. I delivered it to my local technician, and they found a solder joint disconnected. They checked everything else in the amp, ran it for a day or so and it came back sounding fantastic. However, the right wood panel is about 1/4 inch lower than the other. The tech mentioned the quantity of screws it took to remove the side panel and the top, so I assume its just lower due to some assembly error. The lights are good, but dim. Possibly Im used to LED brightness. The needles are super-fast! This is a beautiful amp. Not perfect, but very presentable. Very Heavy. It will be a large heavy box. It is not your usual run of the mill stereo amp but a pretty “high tech” unit with some interesting engineering behind it. Like its own Hyperbolic Conversion Amplification (HCA) which is suppose to be better than Class A but with less heat generated and less distortion. It also has an Advanced Power Supply (APS) which provided a very steady and constant voltage to its circuitry. All these play into a pretty neutral and transparent sound with abundant power reserve to drive just about any speakers. The amp can dip down to 2 ohms when required and at that level, it puts out 230W per channel. In 8 and 4 ohms, it will put out 150W and 190W respectively.
