Spendor BC1 Incredible Classics!. Selling these beautiful sounding BC1s I dont need to say much as you already know why you are looking at them. One of the best sounding vintage speakers with the reviews and the cult following to vouch. In fully working condition - sound so good!. Please study all pictures - have some unfortunate age related marks as expected, badges missing from grilles but easily sourced and stuck back in place. These are keepers I wish I had the room to keep them, I was going to fully restore and make better than new but I genuinely dont have the room. Other than the cabinetry marks all drivers are in full working condition and sound awesome. I wont be removing the grilles as they are fitted in too snug and have read once they are off they never sit back properly or you can damage them. I brought a lovely set of Spendor BC1 cabinets which I then sanded back and re-oiled. These have come up really well and look beautiful. Fitted with KEF B200 woofers. Very similar characteristics to Spendors original bass drivers but with better power handling. Fitted with original 16ohm HF1300 tweeters but Fitted into Celestion square bezels. I have Fitted Peerless Super Tweeters into another set of Celestion square bezels. Much more robust than the original Coles Super Tweeters these would have had. The crossovers whilst based on the original BBC design have been adjusted as needed to integrate the B200 woofer and Peerless Super Tweeter with the original tweeter. All new crossover components. Polypropylene capacitors, air core inductors and mox resistors. All point to point soldered. High purity copper wiring used. New covers made. These are felt covered prior to clothing to help reduce edge defraction issues. The front baffles are original. I have cut out new holes for the super tweeter. These have also been resprayed. THE SOUND. This is what its all about. I love these. Very detailed big sound. Amazing midrange and sparkling top end. The bass performance is also really good. They are a joy to listen to. Warm bass from the original BBC designed lossy cabinets. Fast accurate sound stage. Ive worked on many BC1, Rogers LS3/6 etc and these definitely have that BBC sound. Bonus is newer better drivers and modern crossovers. THE STANDS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE! I USE THESE FOR OTHER SPEAKERS WHEN THEY COME IN FOR REPAIR. POSSIBLY AVAILABLE BY SEPARATE NEGOTIATION? They were manufactured circa 1975 and are therefore an early pair (27000+ pairs of BC1 were produced). They have their original and sought after Blue Alnico magnets. The cabinets are in very nice almost unmarked condition. The Speakers sound superb. The stands are included FOC if you want them. A pair of Spendor bc1 loudspeakers and Spendor original stands. Consecutive serial numbers (17910 &17911). Matching pair of Spendor bc1 speakers, designed for the BBC as studio monitors. There are some marks on the cabinets due to age, but still sound fantastic! 3 way bass reflex design with 8 woofer, 1.25 tweeter and 0.75 super tweeter, 8 ohm impedance. Very little use over the last 10 years so reluctantly selling them on for someone else to enjoy. They are from a pet and smoke free home. Any questions please ask, happy to demonstrate on collection.
