I purchased this unit new in 1996. I used it for a short period of time since CDs became my preferred media source. It was boxed and in my closet for about 25 years. I recently decided to transfer my old cassettes to digital format. Because of its age, the rubber components needed to be replaced as well as a cracked cam gear on the reel motor. I replaced: drive beltspinch rollercam gearIve transferred over a dozen cassettes and the player is fully functional. Ive also tested recording and playback with a new cassette. Its in great condition. Keep in mind that the condition of the tape does effect the output. The tapes that I transferred were over 25 years old. Some tapes had deteriorated to the point of them being unplayable. The higher quality blank tapes that I had recorded on fared better than the store bought recordings. In very good condition! Plays great! All new belts, pinch roller as well as a new reel(Motor) gear. This is a known issue with the TCM-190 mechanism and has been replaced with a new gear. ---I have not tested the record function so this is sold as is/for parts----. Play/FF/RW as well as AMS forward and Rewind work correctly .All lights/meters work as well as Dolby B/C/S. The heads have also been cleaned and demagnetized. Up for sale is a Sony TC-K615S Cassette Deck. This is a higher end Sony cassette deck from the 1990s. It features Dolby B, C, and the elusive Dolby S noise reduction. This unit has a 3 head design, which produces better playback and recording than a 2 head deck. AS-IS (For Parts/Not Working) Condition - Powers on - This deck runs, but the controls are erratic. - If you press Play, it will FF, or not do anything at all. It does play tapes though, it just may take a couple of presses. (Also plays nearly correct speed when it does work)- If you press FF, it will sometimes play, or do nothing. - Rewind appears to be inoperable. If pressed, it tries to engage the gear, but fails to. I cannot figure out the cause. - Capstan Washer is missing, still runs without it, but would be recommended to get another one. - Old Pinch roller will be included (in small bag). - Eject does work, but if it doesnt it is because the spring that operates it inside has gotten off its track. In that case, remove the two screws holding the top cover in place and realign the spring, I will include pictures. (I have taped over the button to hopefully keep it in place) Please see attached video showing the function issue. I will not accept returns on this item, as it is For Parts (AS-IS). I have cleaned and replaced the old belts with new ones and replaced the broken trigger gear (common on these mechanisms). There is also a new correct sized pinch roller. So it will run, but not correctly. Because of these issues, I will be selling this AS-IS (For Parts/Not Working) Item will be shipped partially disassembled. The transport will be installed and connected, but the outside cover will be installed with only a couple of screws to hold in place. Cassette deck door will be attached. I will include the disassembled parts in bags with the package (including 2 feet from the deck). Unit is in excellent shape, with only some dust and a couple of nicks in the metal body. There is one screw hole that is slightly damaged, but doesnt affect mounting of the transport. This is perfect for someone who already has experience with this tape mechanism, as it (should) be a easy fix for someone with that knowledge. Otherwise, will be a perfect source for parts. Will be shipped (UPS or FEDEX) within 3 days (subject to me being at home, away notice will be posted prior to any absences) in a well cushioned box.

Up for sale is my newly restored Sony TC-K615S stereo cassette deck. The deck features 3 heads, an erase, playback, and record head. The unit has a built in recording calibration mode and quartz lock servo for accurate playback speed as well. This deck is an example of the peak of Dolby noise reduction as it features Dolby B, C, and S The cassette deck was painstakingly restored which included removing the original deteriorated belts and replacing them with new belts, replacing the pinch roller, and replacing the notoriously faulty Sony X-3363-501-1 gear on the TCM-190 tape transport mechanism. The tape transport mechanism was also thoroughly cleaned and new lubrication applied. Hours of labor went into this restoration.
