When a tape is inside it will pop open some making it easy to remove the tape. Ok... Heres what it does when using 3 D batteries.. the tape deck makes a clicking noise every few seconds .. and a little part ( a copper wedge l)thats in the last picture moves.. thats what makes the clicking noise.. this is in good cosmetic condition and the glass windows are in excellent condition.. the dials and knobs are in excellent condition.. the unit is complete.. but, I bought this at a flea market that no doubt has dust and dirt blowing around on windy days.. I saw this and it looked very promising.. I was hoping..it just needed batteries.. but, no luck .. though it does try but, Im sure it needs a belt.. a very serious cleaning and someone who knows what theyre doing.. I know what to try .. and what not to do if it doesnt work after basic trouble shooting.. it does include the soft case.. a few of the snaps are not complete..and it is missing the DC 4.5v adapter cord.. Im limited to 24 pictures.. please message me if you need more pictures.. it really is a rather unique looking piece of vintage audiophile level equipment.. I wont mind keeping it as art.. if it doesnt sell.. I wish my area had someone who worked on audio equipment but, thats a good 80 miles away.. also.. please note that I do not want to ship outside the continental U.S.. Ive had nothing but bad experiences doing so... If I do ship internationally I will not accept a return or give a refund.. you will be buying as is .. Working Tested Marantz PMD430 3 Head Stereo Cassette Recorder Deck w/ Case. Played a cassette using its speakers, it sounded pretty good. No noticeable wow or flutter. Was also able to record, FF and rewind. VU meters and backlights also work, as shown in photos. All the switches were mechanically operative and seem to do what the labels say. Counter and auto stop also works. Tested with batteries only as I do t have the AC cord, but I see no reason why it shouldn’t work with AC power if you have the matching cable. Some scratch marks are present on the unit, but they won’t be noticeable when the case is on. Given the age of these old electronics, it’ll be sold as is with no returns. Thank you.
