This capable driver was likely used in other CANTON models from this period, but buyer is responsible for accurately assessing its suitability for any other applications. This CANTON woofer is in clean, excellent overall condition. It has a flawless poly cone, perfect voice coil dustcap, and permanent rubber surround. Plus, the black anodized steel basket is in great shape and so is the magnet ‘bell’ cover. And, the +/- terminals are marked for polarity and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this little woofer is indistinguishable from new! Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds terrific as you’d expect from CANTON. It has a fast, detailed midrange and carries deep into lower treble (crossed over to tweeter at 5kHz in the Plus MX). Plus, it’s rated to 70W so it’s a stout design. And, I tested its DC resistance at 3.8?, consistent with a nominal 4 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the basket flange measures 3?” square, it stands about 2?”, and the mounting holes are spaced 3” adjacent / 3½” diagonal apart, c-t-c. This is a great find if you have a blown mid/bass woofer in your Plus MX or other suitable CANTON speaker. And, long discontinued, it would be a smart spare to have on hand for future needs. The tweeter was epoxied to the back of the faceplate by CANTON, so the whole assembly must be replaced (which is simple to do as I’ll describe later). So, please see the large photos, measurements, and read the remaining description to decide if this capable high frequency driver is suitable for your needs. *Although the listing is written in singular to avoid any confusion, two (2) identical CANTON Plus MX tweeters are available at the time of this writing. This tweeter is in clean, excellent condition. It has a flawless, dimple-free radiating surface well protected by the acoustically transparent wave-guide. Plus, the sturdy black plastic faceplate assembly has no scratches or cracks. And, I’ve left several inches of the +/- input wires soldered to the terminals for the new owner’s convenience when splicing-in to their speaker. Overall, this CANTON tweeter looks practically new. It’s been fully tested and sounds great—clear and strong output that goes deep into the beyond-audibility ‘sparkle’ zone with its 25kHz rating! And, I tested its DC resistance at 3.9-4.0?, consistent with a nominal 4 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the faceplate measures 3½” wide x just under 4?” high. Retrofitting to your CANTON MX speaker because of a blown or otherwise damaged tweeter is really easy to do: Remove grille by pulling at edge or corner with a sturdy safety pin or similar. Unscrew four woofer bolts, carefully pull woofer out and unplug the +/- wires; set aside cone side up. Remove the two screws flanking the tweeter. Pull the front fascia/baffle assembly back and cut the wires close to the magnet of the dead tweeter. Strip those wires back ½” or so, twist like-colors to the wires on the new tweeter and wrap each juncture with electrical tape. Reassemble and you’re done!
