The sweet enjoyment coming from a Sansui paired with Grado headphones and a Technics turntable is incomparable. The phono stage is warm and articulate. Made in Japan quality. You will not be disappointed. Fifty years old and performing as new. Mid-seventies Sansui Receivers are at the top of their game for sound quality. I did not want to polish too harshly and gave a gentle clean, but it really looks terrific for its age. I took many photos - please use those to judge condition. The walnut print vinyl is not pulling or peeling. After servicing, all the controls are buttery smooth. No distortions when using any of them. The headphone jack works, the switched output works, the AM tuner is good, as well. It is subjective, but I would call the FM reception outstanding - markedly better than my other receivers. Signal Meter and dial face have a beautiful green illumination. A real Looker! Sansui 551s punch so far above their weight. If you have never heard the Sansui sound you are in for a real treat!
