This item is in great shape, and the battery compartment has no corrosion. It was tested and working on battery power with the radio adapter, and while the tape doesnt play, I can hear the motor spinning. While Id love to just open it up and replace the belt, Id rather pass this one on for someone more capable. This is such a solid and iconic player, and I cant wait to pass it on to someone who can appreciate it.

SPARES OR REPAIR personal stereo. Motor can be heard but does not turn tape. Radio turns on but sound a bit muffled. Display dim in places. Based on the above, its sold purely as seen and strictly for spares or repairs only with no guarantees of operation. The cosmetic condition is as seen in photos. Hopefully someone has the knowhow to fix, or it can be a good source of parts for someone. This is sold strictly as seen in photos as spares or repair with no returns.

Rare Toshiba KT-4177 stereo cassette player. IC Logic Operation, Dolby System. Takes one AA battery. Recently fitted with a new drive belt. This cassette player is in working condition, but would benefit from some gentle refurbishment. All of the buttons work, including the remote control. This deck plays in forward or reverse. The buttons on the actual tape deck need to be pressed firmly to work (especially the reverse/ fast reverse buttons), the remote control buttons are fine. The cover sticks up slightly at one end which can stop the tape from playing until it is pushed in again. One grey slider cover is missing, from the auto-reverse switch on the back - please see photos. A few dents and scratches on the machine, again please refer to photos. Please see video (excuse the music! Only tape I could find was an 80s celtic pub band. Tape is blank on the second side hence no sound when in reverse).
