Oписание продавца
1979 Sony TPS-L2 portable cassette player with MDR-3L2 Headphones, leather carry case and leather tape case. Designed by Akio Morita, Masaru Ibuka.Manufactured by Sony Corporation. 1979. Full working order complete with original MDR-3L2 Headphones (new foam pads).Serial Number 54181. Condition is excellent and fully operational. Some minor marks and wear. Silver side panel has some paint loss which is typical with these models (especially if they have been rubbing against the case). Please inspect the photos carefully. The Sony TPS-L2 was launched in July 1979 before it had even been given a name. Across the world, the device was marketed under names such as Soundabout (US), Stowaway (UK) Freeway (Scandanavia) before Sony settled on Walkman later in 1979 (adding the logo to the case). The walkman logo branding was added after about 160,000 units were produced. The development of the lightweight Sony MDR-3L2 headphones are considered by many as an equally important moment for enabling personal and portable music. The adjustable miniaturised hi-fi headphones weighing just 45g were a genuine innovation in 1979. Remarkably, the TPS-L2 has two headphone jacks that enabled friends to listen together whilst the Hotwire button served as an intercom between the two listeners. Interest in the Sony TPS-L2 has surged after featuring in the Marvel Comics film Guardians of the Galaxy - with Cosplay enthusiasts seeking an original TPS-L2 to complete their Star-Lord costumes.
