From the estate of an audiophile. Vintage Nakamichi Dragon 3 head cassette deck. Cosmetically looks great for age - small ding in the front and a couple scratches on top - See photos. Could definitely use a detailing - it’s dusty. It powers on and appears to “work” - tape will fast forward, reverse and “play” but it has not been hooked up to a system to listen to the playback. When “playing” it seemed slightly slow to my eye so I am selling it “as-is” “for parts/not working”. It needs servicing or repair of some kind to function perfectly. Comes with original owners manual. It will be carefully packed and shipped quickly with USPS Priority. No international shipping.

Completely Serviced and overhauled by a certified Nakamichi Technician 5/13/2023. The heads are in excellent condition. They have been inspected under a microscope. Unit sounds amazing and works perfectly. 170 Nichicon, Elna Silmic II, United chemicon, Wima, Kemet capacitors 3 Belts 1 Idler tire 3 Light bulb Transport completely disassemble sand rebuilt cleaned the old lubricants from gears/shafts/naac module and relube replaced the belts and idler tire, cleaned the heads and pinch rollers checked the wow & flutter 0.018% to 0.023%. - repaired the NAAC blue wire - adjusted the heads height-azimuth/tape travelling path/mechanisms offset. - cleaned the potentiometers using Deoxit D5. replaced the reels sensor and cassette compartment light bulbs. - reinforced the left side mountings of the transport mechanism. - replaced the electrolytic caps using Nichicon FG/FW/KW caps in the power supply circuits, United Chemicon in the logic circuits and Elna Silmic II/Nichicon Muse non-polar in the audio circuits. Replaced the orange polypropylene caps using WIMA PP caps, matching the values for perfect balancing. - upgraded the 1uF/2.2uF electrolytic caps in the audio path using Kemet film caps - increased the value of the eight Dolby power supply filter caps from 100uF to 220uF. - increased the value of the playback power supply filter cap from 100uF to 470uF. Unit has been tested for 30 hours. Unit will be packed extremely well in a large heavy duty box with lots of packing material.I pack all of my gear to survive being dropped from 6 feet.
