VINTAGE 1960s DANSETTE BERMUDA VALVE RECORD PLAYER For parts of repair as not working but does power up. Some knobs are missing. The turntable has fallen on one side. The case is in generally good condition. The design on the underneath is eye catch, a classic of its age, and in great condition. I cannot see anything that would be a great challenge to an expert to get this working and and fully conditioned again.

Here is a superb example of a original 1960s vintage Dansette Bermuda MK1 record player its finished in the classic colour of 100% original red rexine & its all clean bright & vibrant & not faded like so many original red ones are today! This model also comes suitable for the fitting of legs as it has the base plates for them fitted on the bottom, I have included a picture of one on legs to show how they look (legs not included) legs simply screw on or off as required.. It is fully restored electrically & mechanically & is in as new working order with great authentic 60s sound. This is not a cheap modern plastic foreign made Crossley re-pro player, this is a genuine 1960s vintage made in England Dansette, The turntable is a superb BSR UA14 deck it plays any record, any size, any speed. About 8 records can be stacked & will be played automatically in turn one after the other or manually if preferred. The white front grill covers the internal speaker & two brass capped controls are mounted on it one a combined on/off volume & a tone, there is also a red light above the controls that comes on when the player is switched on. This Dansette Bermuda dates from 1962 its the Mk1 model, they were made from 1962-66, This is the earliest version of this model with the UA14 deck & its is just as Dansette intended it to be this is not a custom makeover player. This was the biggest selling Dansettes of the mid 1960s, Its fitted with a very similer amplifier that others like the Major & Tempo etc had so it sounds just as good as they do. For me its the very best looking of all the models from the Dansette range, it just screams the period at you with its superb looks & captures the times to perfection! Dansette made a wide range of record players they came in many colour schemes, many companies made record players but none had quite the style & classic look and variety of colours that Dansettes had & they are now regarded as design icons & they truly sum up a golden age of music and are now highly collectable, and for me there is no better authentic way to hear those classic 50s & 60s records or indeed any records as they were heard at the time on authentic period equipment! This player has been stripped & professionally cleaned inside & out there is not a visible part that has not been cleaned, I have put in many many hours of work & care to get it looking & sounding like this again! Cosmetically this is in overall great condition with no noticeable fading of the red, the cream rexine was in a poor state so this has been colour enhanced to be clean & vibrant again, its a fab looking & sounding player again & its still amazing to think this its over 60 years old! The deck has its original rubber mat fitted & its just as soft as when new! All the brass effect fittings are in good order & gleam & are rust free. I will also supply copys of the original operating instructions with this player! The valve amplifier has been serviced with components replaced including new capacitors & resistors, for safety its now been rewired & fitted with a double insulated earthed mains cable, a 3amp correct fuse is fitted to the plug, unlike most restored Dansettes today this is fitted with a original period cartridge a restored for maximum output BSR TC8H high output cartridge this is mono & should not be used on Stereo records Its got as new loud output & comes with a new vinyl & 78rpm stylus (I can fit a Stereo compatable cartridge if required message for advice if unsure) The turntable has been lubricated & works as it should on ALL speeds. The autochanger works just as it should changing records! There is no crackle from the volume or tone controls. This is a great chance to get a superb looking & sounding Dansette Bermuda this was one of the Dansette models that really sums up the 1960s to peerfection, its a classic & it represents the period to perfection its sure a Dansette not to miss! & dont forget its all ready for legs if required. This has got superb original looks with great authentic period sound! it would make a fantastic talking point in any home, so dont miss this one.. I have been restoring Dansettes for years now & I know all the models made & all the correct colours they came in so you can be assured that any player I sell will look as Dansette intended it to look and be totally authentic. My mission is to restore them to as close to as new condition as is possible & make them look & sound as Dansette intended. MORE PICTURES TO FOLLOW. NOT QUITE FINISHED! A superb example of a Dansette Bermuda from about 1963/64 fitted with a rare brown/cream BSR turntable. With original pink and white covering which has been revived and cleaned it looks very smart. Cleaned inside and out with a new 3 core cable fitted with a 3amp fuse. The brass catches and hinges are all original but cleaned and polished to look like new again. The leg plates are new with brand new black and brass 18 legs included. The BSR UA15 turntable has been cleaned and re-greased and works at all speeds with the auto-change. Its fitted with a new high output turnover SX6H crystal cartridge which gives good volume and is wired for stereo to mono, so its safe to play stereo records without any damage as well as 45s and 78s. This listing is for a piece of British audiophile history. A Dansette Bermuda Record Player on black tapered Legs dating from 1963 to 1965. This particular example, comes in original untouched and unrestored condition. It was part of a recent house clearance and has been dry stored for many years. It is in reasonably good working order although would benefit from a good service and some oil. This example has the cream and dark grey textured vinyl covered case. The condition is pretty good given its age. A real collectors item and could be used as is or would be a great restoration project. It has the autochanger mechanism allowing several records to be loaded at once, and played in succession. In 1963, a Dansette Popular 4 speed record player would be sold for 11 guineas and for another 2 guineas you could opt for the Bermuda with a 4 speed autochanger with legs. Models ranged from the entry-level players such as the Junior, Princess and the Popular through standard models such as the Major, the Bermuda and Challenge, to top-of-the-range players such as the HiFi, Supreme and Stereophonic.
