This Carver TX-2 performs with excellence, tuning AM and FM with great sensitivity, also making listenable in stereo many FM stations that are too noisy with other tuners and receivers. The two features that allow this are the Asymetrical Charge Coupled Detector design and the Multipath detection and elimination circuit switch. Although this tuner is providing reliable, superior listening enjoyment, it has a problem that will make it unacceptable to some: the LCD digital display of the frequency selected is improperly displaying some numbers. Of the seven segments for each number, some do not light when they should, while others light when they shouldnt. In the photos, the frequency of 88.7 is correctly displayed. The second photo should be displaying 89.3, but it is not. This does not prevent proper tuning of any desired frequency, as you move tuning up and down in steps from properly displayed tuning. If the user makes use of the multiple preset buttons, less reliance will be made on hte display to select stations one usually listens to. This is what Id recommend to the buyer. If you will find the display defect too limiting for your use, please do not buy. However, if you are looking for good tuning performance from distant stations or in urban or mountainous areas that create multipath distortion, and can live with the improper display of some numbers, this tuner will provide satisfaction. Tubes light up and everything as far as the face display lights up. The unit is in good aesthetic condition, but there are a few minor scratches on the top corner. Carver DTL-200MK2 CD Player High End Vintage 1987 Looks great! had this for many years but havent used recently as I stream alot. plays well but sometimes doesnt start right at the beginning of a song and very occasionally skips. probably a lens cleaning issue or perhaps an adjustment within that I would know nothing about. very high end in its day and has always been dependable. matches other items in that group so I may sell them later. comes with original remote will need AA batteries. rate it 9/10 on looks with no heavy scratches on unit and perfect glass and all lights work. sold as-is and as described. receiver not included. thanks for looking! will have more electronics soon as I have a stereo in almost every room.
