Cambridge Audio CD36 Compact Disc CD Player with 96 Times Oversampling DAC. It is in fully working condition, having been serviced prior to sale with a new CD Tray belt fitted, internal mechanism cleaned and re-greased, and lens physically cleaned. It shows signs of previous use such as numerous scuffs and scratches, especially to the top lid, some of which have been touched in (see photos). A great sounding CD Player! No remote control or other accessories are included!There is no original box or packaging, however I have very strong double walled boxes, so you can be rest assured that it will be well wrapped and packed!Note: I discreetly security seal and mark my electronic devices to prevent against eBay fraud, as well as record all serial numbers! These security features do not effect the operation of the devices in any way. Item will be posted via UPS fully tracked and fully insured, hence the postage costs. In original, unaltered condition. Ripe for ModdingThis is a matched DAC and Transport combo and will require 2 optical cables or one optical and one Coax/BNC. One for Digital output (sound) and one for the Clock. The reason these sound so good is the Clock-Lock function that can only be enabled with an optical cable and a flick of a switch at back of the DAC. Once enabled a small red light is enabled on the CD player display as seen in the pic. Now you will be clock locked and can experience superior sound quality!

Up-samples signal sources to 24/384. Used as a DAC for the 851N (think about that for a moment!) Thanks to this unit, Ive fallen in love with CDs. I sit motionless/ transfixed, in my systems sweet spot, listening to CD sourced music. It sits with my Azure 851A and 851N. Ive tested various combination configurations.Azure 851C into Azure 851A (with hi-end Audio Quest balanced cables.) Dont want to do anything other than listen to music.Azure 851C into Azure 851N (via hi-end Audio Quest coaxial.) Elvis lives!Azure 851N into Azure 851C via hi-end Audio Quest coaxial for 851Cs DAC features, with 851C output connected to 851A via hi-end Audio Quest balanced cables. Improved DAC than that found on 851N.So you can use it not only as a CD player, but also CD transport and a reference quality DAC. The DAC on this unit is so good, Ive connected an Intel NUC to it via USB. Gives me reference quality sound via apps Foobar2000, Sony Music Center. To get the best out of this unit, good support and cables will be paramount. The listening experience is such, that CDs previously not played for many years will be replayed and heard as they should be. Thrilling and engaging.
