Acoustic Research AR3a PAIR Speakers WORKING Teak AR 1970s. Have been connected up and are in full Working order. Beautiful sound quality. However, they have been stored in different places so the colour of the teak varies and there are some water marks - please see pictures. The fronts can be easily replaced to freshen them up. MORE PICTURES TO COME. Teledyne Acoustic Research AR38s Vintage Hi-Fi Speakers. Ive had these for a few years now, I put new surrounds on them and they work great. I think theyre in really good condition for their age, not without a bit of wear and tear. I seemed to have used a bit much glue as you can see around the woofers but theyre in fully working order. Purely cosmetic. The only real issue is one broken spring clip on the rear of one speaker. You can shove a cable in the hole, I did mean to put new terminations on but I havent got the time anymore, it was a tail end of lockdown project and I need to move them on. Too many speakers, not enough space! Well made speakers producing a detailed sound with more than adequate punch thanks to the 10 inch driver, best paired with period equipment. Original cloth covers are included, also in great shape with very minor discolouration. Collection only on these, I dont want them damaged.

This is one of the midranges I’m selling from a pair of AR3a Improved speakers. According to what I’ve read, the drivers are the same in the AR3a Improved speakers as in the regular AR3a speakers. The improvement is in the crossovers. To my ears, both this midrange and the other I’m selling sound great, and are equal in sound and volume. Both also seem to be factory replacements. One was perfect, the other had part of the wire screen dented partly in when I bought the speakers. Even though it still seemed to sound fine I pulled that wire screen out so it was no longer pushing in the dome. I don’t remember which it is but I assume it’s the other because the foam on that ones dome is somewhat off-center. I made a video of both these midranges at the same time so no one could say one is bad and I demonstrated the good one twice. I started with the radio’s own speaker for comparison. I haven’t used the AR3a Improved speakers much since refoaming the woofers because I had gotten more into video, and was using a subwoofer and smaller home theater speakers instead. I’m selling this midrange AS IS because it’s old and might not be quite perfect.
