A solid little MM phono pre-amp (power supply is not pictured but IS INCLUDED in the sale). Its worked trouble free for me for a decade, so Im now hoping it can go on and maybe be someone elses cost effective way to make use out of a turntable, whether it be a cheap replacement, a secondary setup or a first foray into vinyl. Cambridge Audio 540P MM PHONO Stage Amplifier - very good sounding. Compared to standard 1 OpAmp Phono stages - this one sound full bodied, strong bass detailed and spacious sound.Very involing and hard to stop listening to your vinyl collection. Not harsh at all. Comes with power adapter. All tested - as used for daily use, and proved fault free long serve. Circuit is very special - can be found only in Cambridge Audio Phono stages (and Graham Slee of cause) - it starts with discreet 2 transistor differential input stage / per channel (driven directly by cartridge where no capacitor in between) and then uses 2 OpAmp stages for each channel and RIAA correction components are connected in a passive crossover way, this ferature gets very special (open sans spacious) sounding signature, which was available in vintage 2 transistor type of Phono stages and long gone in 80-90 with appearance of 1 OpAmp circuits due to its simplicity and costs savings over sound quality.
