For sale is WOO AUDIO WTP-1 CD transport. Outwardly, the unit is in outstanding condition, the same as when it arrived from the factory. The unit, however, is in need of transport work. I had previously had the transport worked on by Woo Audio after a failure. For a while, it worked perfectly. Then, it started showing symptoms of difficulty again....some CDs cant be read; some CDs will read but only after the unit is powered off and powered back on; sometimes the CD track selection does not work (you have to play the CD in its entirety rather than selecting tracks), and closing of the top arm does not prompt automatic CD reading. You may find failure modes other than what Ive just described. Or, you might get lucky and the unit will work better for you than it does for me. Originally, the WTP-1 sold for around $1200, if my memory serves. Controls are basic Play, Pause, Stop, Skip Forward, Skip Backward. The rear panel has three digital outputs in the form of AES/EBU, BNC, and TosLink optical. In essence, this is a chassis in near-perfect condition, complete with the remote control, CD weight, and factory double-boxing, that I cannot get to work as intended. A chance, perhaps, for a transport techie guru to get a nice piece of equipment for the price of a little work. If you have any questions, I will try my best to answer. The button on the power unit also needs to be held to have it kept turn on. Otherwise, the amplifier itself is in fully working condition, but will need to be serviced to fix these ongoing issues. It give a percentage value of gm for the tube under test and checks for shorts and grid emissions. I also use a Tektronix curve tracer for testing triodes. I give a number of evaluations for tubes. One evaluation is a screen shot of the tube with a high voltage applied to the plate. This helps the buyer see the linearity of the tube in question at the highest voltage the tube will see in a real circuit. The Curve tracer steps the triode through 10 gate/grid voltages starting with -10 volts and going to 0 volts. The lines show how the tube conducts throughout that range. At 0 volt the tube is at max conduction and is the top line on the display. It is easy at that point to take where that top line intersects the plate voltage, find the milliamp level and compare it to the datasheet. I give those numbers for you in the Item condition box. To further help the buyer I also include the Design values, for gm and ma readings in the table. This can then be compared to other tube sellers using inferior test methods such as Hickok,  Amplitrex, and other testers. The Tektronix curve tracer gives values within 3% of the actual value. The very best portable testers only can approach 10% accuracy.5.    Please NOTE: The numbers given for gm are what I see on my tester. I DO NOT guarantee that you will see those numbers on your tester. I only guarantee that these tubes will test good, with no shorts, or gas, on a decent calibrated tester.
